Major Types of Plains in the World

(Before we move to the next topic think about why people like to live on flat land)


Massive areas of lowland that are level or gradually sloping are called plains. Plains can be found near the sea or ocean, inside continent, along rivers and formed by Earth movements.All types of plains are very important because makes farming easier to flat land, growth of industries can support large populations, encourage the development of settlements and transportation becomes smoother on flat land.There are various kinds of plains that are created in various ways.

Coastal Plains

These plains are often sandy formed by river and sea important for ports and trade.

Examples:
Atlantic Coastal Plain (USA)
Eastern Coastal Plains of India 


Continental Plains

This type of plains are very large good for farming inside continent away from the sea

Structural Plains

These plains are very old, large, less fertile but useful for mineral resources.
